or What is Candace is she listening to?

What’s your jam? 😅Exercise? ✂️Crafting? 🎨Art? 📘Reading?
Trying ____(fill in the blank)?

Me? I’m trying to work out every day. That’s my effort. Sometimes twice a day. I’ve definitely put on the Covid 10. 😭 I don’t hate working out, in fact I enjoy it once I’m in the moment. It’s getting in the moment that’s difficult.

Sidebar: Here at littleSonder we have book club. We take turns picking books and we discuss them. I tell you this because recently we read James Clear’s book, Atomic Habits. Definitely, eye-opening and well worth the read! He talks about how our identity comes from our habits. And if our habits repeat every day then we are affirming our identity. Think about it if we tell ourselves that we can’t do something why would we ever make the effort to try it? Do it day in and day out? Interested? James has a blog where you can read more here at Identity Based Habits.

Practice: Well, I thought about this concept of identity based habits and decided that I wanted part of my identity to be fit, healthy & flexible. Specifically, I started small with the fit part. Every day at o’dark early I scrape myself out of bed, dress, wait for my neighbor/exercise buddy to arrive and for 3o+ minutes we exercise together. We play a video on the tv in my basement gym. We encourage each other; ask am I doing this right? We keep each other accountable. Recently, we noticed that we are rocking shoulder exercises! 👈 That’s my transformation. Whereas, my plank is still mostly on my knees and that’s good enough for me.

Questions: What’s your approach in becoming good enough?
Do you beat yourself up with negative self-talk?
Or do you strive endlessly with a single minded path to perfection?
Or do you practice every day and as my gal Amy @the_holistic_edit says, ‘do you cover yourself in grace everyday’?

The principle of Good Enough Parenting/Child Care isn’t that you end the day by washing your hands and brushing off what went wrong. We pause to give ourselves grace and strive to work on the things that went wrong. We seek advice from other experts. Keep in mind that experts come in different forms; be they professionals like our good Dr. L or other parents or childcare providers who often have decades of experience and knowledge.

Best, Candace 💗
